Hi we run a local hospice for abandoned dogs, based in Mansfield,we have had a massive stock of food donations and wondered if we could come and give out to the homeless people’s dogs probably on a weekly basis, also offer coats, collars, leads, a free health check and help with chipping, neutering and vaccinations?

HTH distribute heavy winter clothes and quilts to the homeless. These are bundled up into black bin liners, and transported to location. It seems silly to me that good folk donate clean, laundered, and folded stuff, which simply get "rummaged" in, and aren't on view to the homeless to enable them to see what they need.
It seems a jolly tall order, but I'll throw this one out there to the members of this group... does anyone know of a reasonably sized room in the town centre, which may be locked, which can be made accessible to HTH on a Thursday evening, in order to keep stuff dry, clean, and respectably folded etc., so as to save HTH a load of work ramming their cars full every Thursday, and to save them storing stuff at home. I am absolutely certain that Liz, for one, would sincerely love the use of her lounge back, which she has sacrificed for the last few years as a store room.
Any donations of winter clothes, sleeping bags, quilts, survival items, food, supplies, and comfort items gratefully received and distributed to the needy. 🙂
Please join and see group for more information. Thank-you. ... See MoreSee Less

I've just joined this group and I'm just trying to get my head around what's happening, what the situation is, what groups are out there, and how I can help. Is there a post anywhere with a summary of the state of play or a useful information post for new starters?
Much love to you all for your compassion that you already display. Just looking to see what different ways there are to help. ... See MoreSee Less
The kind gentleman, Steven, who provides van delivery and collection services to "Helping The Homeless" (Mansfield) does not charge for his services, however, it does cost money for fuel and "tipping".
It is possible for Steve to pay for tipping facilities in scrap metal, so if anyone has any scrap metal you want removing which would raise more cash than the cost of petrol to take it away, HTH would be grateful. (Y)
Please share the care.
